ZTE will soon be bringing their smart phones to the UK with their own name on the case rather than that of another company. The Chinese phone maker has previously made cheap mobile phones for others, with notable examples including Orange’s San Francisco, Boston and Monte Carlo.

The change is due to financial considerations, with ZTE teaming up with distributors Brightpoint to get the ball rolling. They expect to “become a household name synonymous with high-quality smart phones and tablets.”
They may have been inspired by the success of HTC, who recently switched from making handsets for others to releasing under their own brand. Some of HTC’s own brand mobile phones have received rave reviews from industry and users alike. ZTE claim that they will be the world’s third biggest phone maker by 2015, with only Nokia and Samsung selling more.

ZTE was founded in Shenzhen in 1985, and rose from a group of state-owned enterprises with ties to the government’s Ministry of Aerospace and specialized in telecoms. One of the reasons it hasn’t been bought out is because it’s partly owned by the Chinese government; a big global player and potentially a tricky business partner.

Their latest two Orange-branded mobile phones, the Stockholm and the Barcelona, both run Android 2.2 and are close to release. The Barcelona is the successor to Orange’s San Francisco and is split into a physical keyboard and 2.6-inch capacitive touch screen. The camera is 3.2-megapixel, but doesn’t have a flash. The phone looks a little like BlackBerry’s Bold 9900, with notable latest features including Signal Boost which taps into your own WiFi network to boost your phone signal for calls and texts, and Orange Gestures which allows access to menu options by making a brief physical motion.
It will be interesting to monitor developments in the ZTE camp over the coming months!

2011 looks all set to be the year of Android. The operating system, developed by Google, has already become the second biggest OS in the world according to sales and looks all but set to overtake Symbian as the world’s premier mobile phone software this year.

There are however, several other phones set for release soon that, due to Android supremacy and clear winner in Mobile OS sector, look all set to slip under the radar. This is a big shame though as some of these devices could have a great future ahead of them and there is definitely other impressive software out there to be taken into account.

The Samsung Wave 578 looks set to be released soon, nearly a year after the first Wave introduced us to Samsung’s Bada software and it looks as though it could, under the right circumstances, be quite a big hit for the Korean company. It is a mid range phone so do not expect fireworks but it does have plenty of features packed into its small and light – it weighs 100g – frame including a 3.2″ 240 x 400 pixel capacitive TFT display, a 3.2 megapixel camera on the back plus a 0.3 camera on the front so you can use the video calling feature that the phone will have.

There has also been plenty of talk about new Windows Phones recently and most of the talk has been around the Sony Ericsson phones the Xperia X7 and the X7 mini. These phones look set to challenge the hegemony posed by Android as Microsoft look to really push their Operating System Windows 8 in 2011 and look to roam the mobile phone market with HP iPAQ Voice Messenger- A QWERTY Windows Mobile.

It is rumoured that the X7 will have a 4.3″ screen, 1.2GHz processor, and an 8.1 megapixel camera. The X7 mini supposedly sports a 3.5″ screen, 1GHz processor, and a whopping 10.1 megapixel camera with a 3x optical zoom and a Xenon flash.

It looks as if it is not just Android phones that look set for success in 2011.

The leading social network sites such as Twitter, Facebook, LiveJournal and paralyzed for several hours, Thursday (6 / 8), the effects of DDoS attacks (distributed denial of service). The attack is carried out “zombie” or is called a botnet for this is even possible infected thousands of millions of personal computers and office in the world.

The botnet attacker was ruled botnets that was raised secretly to overwhelm access to these sites simultaneously. As a result, not less than 300 million users Twitter, Facebook, and LiveJournal can not access due to traffic that is too high even make the server down.

Twitter experienced down of service about three hours since the attack that occurred. During the three hours, about 35 million Twitter users can not send any messages. Facebook interference reported the same experience about 250 million users. While LiveJournal report 21 million users affected by this attack.

“This is really a very deadly attack,” said Stephen Tanase, senior analyst of Kaspersky as quoted from UsaToday. None of the big attacks happen again since February 2000. At that time, a boy aged 15 years who named himself Mafiaboy ordered his botnets to attack Yahoo, eBay, Amazon, Etrade, ZDnet, and CNN.

With crippling Twitter and other social networking site, Attackers want to show how strong and terrible of botnet network in the world. Security analyst from the company’s antivirus AV, Roger Thompson estimates 40 percent of computers connected to the Internet are currently infected with botnet. However, users often do not realize the dangerous program that hide themselves and behave reasonably so difficult antivirus detected.

At glance, the shape is similar with iPod Touch with touch screen 3.5 inches wide. The white color is also typical of Apple before switch to silver. This K2 Gadget will be equipped with WiFi connection, web browser, Bluetooth, and even digital TV tuner. In addition there is accelerometer features position so that the display of the screen adjusts with the position.

Unfortunately there are no other details about this product. Product manager of IRiver, Danny Bejanoff, does not sure when this product will be released to the market. If it is really exit, iPod Touch will have a competitor that may be equivalent.
